As electric cars become increasingly popular, Malaysia has to wait with bated breath for an electric car revolution<\/a>. Starting off our list is the Volvo XC90 Recharge, a seven seater SUV. It has a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a supercharger and a 11.6kWh lithium-ion battery. This allows the XC90 to travel 50 km entirely electric, which brings down the fuel consumption to 2.4 litres per 100km. Talk about fuel-efficient! It does come with a hefty price tag at RM 394k though.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

One of the MPV’s on our best MPV list<\/a>, the Nissan\u00a0Serena<\/a>\u00a0is one of the few MPVs that comes with a hybrid powertrain. Nissan claims it can achieve a fuel consumption rating of 14.2 kilometers per liter. Pretty impressive for a RM150k 7-seater MPV. It is also more affordable than the Volvo XC90 but not as fuel efficient.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The Honda City RS is another car that has made an appearance before, this time on our fuel efficient cars article<\/a>. Coming in at RM105.9k, the Honda City RS consumes a shocking 3.6\u2113<\/strong>\u00a0per 100km! Combine that with a\u00a05-star<\/a>\u00a0ASEAN NCAP Safety Rating, and multi angle rear view cameras, and the low price, the Honda City 1.5 RS is certainly one of the best hybrids in Malaysia.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

BMW 530e iPerformace<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Consuming only 2.0\u2113<\/strong> per 100km, the 530e iPerformance blows everything on this list out of the water when it comes to fuel efficiency. It achieves this with the B48 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine under the hood and a 9.2kWh lithium-ion battery just under the rear seats. This smaller battery compared to the Volvo XC90 translates to a slightly shorter all-electric range of 48km. All in all, it is an impressive vehicle priced at RM 344k.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
