Hyundai<\/a> Malaysia is set to release the KONA in quarter four, the anticipated New compact SUV for the local market. The KONA, a CBU or imported model from Hyundai\u2019s home country, completes the brand\u2019s SUV range in Malaysia, with the Tucson and Santa Fe in the mix.<\/p>\n

The New Hyundai KONA debuted in Korea in 2017 and has since sold over 600,000 units worldwide, up till July 2020.<\/p>\n

The KONA compact SUV gains its name from the Kona district in Hawaii. Featuring Hyundai\u2019s most prevalent design signature, it has the cascading grille at the front, a low-slung and wide stance and a rear that\u2019s typical of compact SUVs but with Hyundai\u2019\u2019s very own creativity. The front end of the KONA has cpmposite LED lighting with LED DRLs to illuminated paths more effectively. \u00a0Overall the compact SUV has is well-proportioned, dynamic silhouette, taking up low, wide stance to complement the car\u2019s long wheel base and short overhangs. The side mirrors have turn signals, while the wing-type fenders with contrasting black armor make the profile a lot attractive. The rear is brought to life thanks to slim brake lights, turn indicators and reverse light.<\/p>\n

The KONA offers the best-in-class interior space, Hyundai claims. The interior has a simple layout with the main highlight being the AVN (Audio, Visual, Navigation) monitor, a 7-inch floating touchscreen, which does all the infotainment stuff. Then, there\u2019s the mechanical air vents, console switches and heads up display. And lastly, thanks to high ground clearance and elevated seating positions, the driver gets a better view while occupants have a more comfort ride. Wireless charging is a standard equipment, as well.<\/p>\n

The KONA \u00a0has generous interior space by optimizing the underfloor layout, including the 4WD drivetrain and exhaust system, to reduce central tunnel intrusion. The suspension component layout is optimized at the rear, allowing for a lower floor and seating position to deliver class-leading levels of headroom and ease of access for rear occupants. At the rear, luggage compartment can be extended with split folding or complete fold down.<\/p>\n

Unless otherwise, the KONA comes with either 1.6 T-GDI, paired to a seven-speed auto transmission, and a \u00a02.0-liter MPI Atkinson engine that\u2019s paired to a six-speed auto transmission. More details will be available at launch.<\/p>\n

The compact SUV has front McPherson strut and a different rear suspension system, according to a two- or 4-wheel configuration. On chassis, the new KONA is enforced by super-strong structural elements and an innovative multi-load path structure,<\/p>\n

A list of relevant assistive systems are part of the KONA, including Hyundai Smart Sense, \u00a0Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), front-view camera, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), High Beam Assist (HBA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), and radar systems with Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collison Warning (RCCW).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
